COURSE DESCRIPTION & OUTLINE
Upon completion, participants will earn certification in both Flagger Safety and Work Zone Installation.
Participants will receive training in traffic control and work zone installation, focusing on methods and techniques that enhance the safety, ease, and efficiency of flagging and installation. The participants will learn and apply effective setup, installation, and removal of temporary traffic controls within the highway right of way. They will be equipped to carry out routine operations where the public and workers may face potential hazards from equipment and vehicles, including during adverse weather, nighttime conditions, or unexpected challenges. The course will include practical understanding and application of flagging and installation techniques, with hands-on demonstrations and practice.
Through hands-on demonstrations and practical application, attendees will gain a thorough understanding of:
- Traffic control devices and proper work zone setup
- Hazard awareness and mitigation strategies
- NC-DOT Standard Specifications
- Effective communication with pedestrians and motorists
- Managing adverse weather conditions and nighttime operations
- Emergency procedures for unexpected challenges
This course equips participants with the knowledge and skills to safely and effectively perform traffic control operations in real-world conditions.
